Getting The Most Out Of The SYSWC Community
So you have something to say but you don’t know how to express it.
You would like to share your story but you don’t know where to start.
Joining a community of people in the same situation is a good first step. Share Your Story With Confidence Facebook group is currently made up of my friends and even some family members, who are full of creativity but are still finding their feet in terms of sharing their stories.
My experience running this group has shown me that we all share the same struggles - failing to find time for ourselves, not prioritising activities that we really enjoy, fearing experimentation, and not believing that there is someone out there who will really connect with our story.
I believe we can all overcome these barriers, but it will take time. It will take time, support and direction.
Time means you need to decide if you want to be in, commit to being in and realise that it will not happen overnight - you need to be in for the long-haul!
Support means you need to actively seek out and connect with others like you and realise that we (that’s us and you) are stronger in numbers.
Direction means you need to participate in activities that push your boundaries and realise that we grow (with confidence) when we try new things.
Whether you are one of the first members of the SYSWC FB group or if you have just arrived there are a number of ways you can participate -
Make a comment on the daily weekday post
Ask questions related to the SYSWC pillars of reading, writing and positive thinking
Request topics to discuss or ideas for future activities
Yes, there is some way to go, but hopefully these tips will help you get the most out of your time in SYSWC.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
